FAQ's

MIR Products

The item I want is sold out. Is it coming back?

The way we source our fabrics and produce our collections means that some of our items are only available in small quantities and may be sold out. Please note that most of our pieces are limited edition and will not be returning in the future.

The item I ordered is faulty. What do I do?
We would be more than happy to exchange this garment for you if we still have it in stock or provide you with a full refund for the faulty item. Please write to us at info@miryoulivein.com and send an item back to us with the defective item. We will also cover the cost of the postage of the return. Please ensure to include proof of postage.

Do you use recycled or man-made fibres?
Yes, we do. We aim to use natural fibres as much as possible. Also, we use recycled polyester threads, and some of our trims may be manmade.

What size am I?
Our size guide can be found on our product pages. Here you can find the measurements for each size.

Payments

How can I pay on your site?
Payment for orders must be made by debit or credit card. The latest security technology protects all online transactions. For added security,  MIR does not retain your payment details when you place an order. You can pay for your order online by PayPal, Visa, MasterCard, Maestro, Switch and American Express.

Please note: If you are paying by Visa or MasterCard, you may be required to authenticate your purchase using Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode to protect your card against unauthorised use.

Will I be charged VAT?

All prices on our UK website include UK Value Added Tax (VAT). If shipping outside of the EU, the prices do not include UK VAT, but your order may be subject to local duties.

Do I have to pay import duties or taxes for orders outside the UK?
We ship our packages with Delivery Duty Unpaid (DDU), and any customs duties and taxes are regulated and issued by your government, not the UK government. Unfortunately, these fees are beyond our control, and we cannot cover or even estimate what these charges will be. That depends on the items, the country, and the discrepancy of that country's customs officials.

When is payment taken from my card?
As soon as you place your order, we will immediately contact your bank or card issuer for authorisation to take payment from your account. If there is a query with the payment, either your card issuer or our Customer Care team will contact you.

Delivery

What are my shipping options?

Look at our Shipping details on the product page for more information on our UK and international shipping fees and delivery times.

I need to change my delivery address. Is it possible?
If you need to change the details of your delivery address, please contact the info@miryoulivein.com team within 30 minutes of placing your order to ensure it can be changed before it is dispatched.

Why do you use plastic packaging?

Honestly, we wrap our garments in recycled plastic packaging, and zip locks are also recycled as, at this time, it is the best way we know how to protect our products from moisture damage in transit. We prefer not to use plastic and are searching for practical, biodegradable solutions for the future. Some brands remove the plastic polybags from their garments in their UK or EU distribution centres and re-wrap the garments in paper or tissue. This is less sustainable and produces more waste than if the garment is kept in its original plastic packaging. We, therefore, do not do this.

The recycled packaging we use is made from recycled bottles and is recyclable. We have two aeration holes in the plastic packaging to prevent condensation from forming, and the plastic is also Butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) free, which prevents garments from yellowing.

As a small company, we always have to weigh up what has the more significant impact when we consider a complex issue. We feel that in terms of packaging and protecting our Fairtrade, handmade clothing is the priority. However, we are constantly reviewing our current sustainability practices and will implement a change when we are in the position to do so. We hope this gives our customers a little more information about why our garments are shipped. We very much appreciate your continued support for fair trade and sustainable fashion.

Why don't you ship to my country?
We cannot provide a cost-effective delivery service to some countries outside Europe. However, if you want, you can DM us on Instagram or write to info@miryoulivein.com, and we will provide options for you. We hope that as we grow more extensive, we will be able to make this service more accessible for you.

Sustainability

What Materials do you use?
For us, eco is not a trend but an attitude and responsibility towards our environment; it is not an option but a must. Therefore we consistently use sustainable, environmentally friendly & circular materials.
Here we have listed our materials for you:

  • Cotton from controlled organic cultivation
  • Recycled & circular cotton
  • Pure new wool from controlled organic animal husbandry
  • Recycled & circular pure new wool
  • Natural alpaca wool
  • Regenerated fibers from Lenzing (LENZING™ ECOVERO™, TENCEL™ Lyocell, TENCEL™ Modal)
  • Recycled synthetic fibres (rPET)

Why do you focus on environmental responsibility?
The fast fashion industry is booming with it, using genetic engineering, pesticides, nasty chemicals and enormous amounts of dirty water. We are sick of the indifference and disrespect with which our environment is treated. That's why all our materials and processes are constantly checked to ensure they are environmentally friendly. Since our materials' quality, durability and sustainability depend on many variables, such as the type of fibre, yarn blends, yarn structure, fabric construction, dyeing and finishing, we at MIR have carefully selected our raw material sources and their qualities. We adhere to our principles in all phases of production:

  • 100% free of harmful chemicals
  • 100% sustainable production facilities
  • 100% traceable - from the raw material to the finished textile product

Where are your clothes produced?
Currently, we produce most of our collections in Bangladesh and Portugal. . We started with the production in Bangladesh because it is easy to control due to the built processes. All our partners are regularly visited, controlled and certified. The bigger we become as a brand, the further we try to get closer to our goals. After all, the larger the quantities we produce, the greater the influence we can exert as a company on working and environmental conditions.

What does the GOTS label stand for?
The Global Organic Textile Standard (in short: GOTS) is not a new type of goat, but a certification of the International Working Group on Organic Textile Standards (IWG) and is one of the strictest standards for organically produced natural fibres (organic cotton, organic virgin wool and organic linen). It defines requirements that ensure a socially responsible and ecologically sustainable production of textiles, from cultivating the raw material to final processing. Compliance with this standard is verified yearly by an independent certification authority.

What does the Fairwear Foundation stand for?
The Fair Wear Foundation is an international multi-stakeholder initiative that aims to work with all member companies to improve supply chains and working conditions in textile factories worldwide. A strict code of conduct requires, among other things, the prohibition of child labour, the right to freedom of association, secure jobs, living wages and resource-conserving production in all ventures, starting from fabric production. On-site FWF auditors regularly check compliance with the factories' standards. In addition to that, we are being audited ourselves each year in the so-called Brand Performance Check. We like the approach the FWF has. Every company gets the chance and the support to improve its production conditions. We aim to support our suppliers in establishing good working conditions for all employees in the long term.

Are you a vegan brand?
No, we are not. But although we have decided not to be a purely vegan fashion label, we pay attention to animal-friendly and sustainable practices and follow strict guidelines when working with animal raw materials. 90% of our collection is vegan with the strict guidelines of GOTS.

 Donations

How will donations be spent?

Every three months, we will share information about organisations and the number of trees they will plant. We are considering creating a progress bar which will be visible to anyone on the website with the number of trees each passionate supporter of the MIR brand has planted.
